Parents don't have rights they have "responsibilities" but children have "rights". Rights pertains to standing or protections in law. He saying that parents do not have standing/protection in law in regards to their children but they do have resonsibilities or matters the the court will hold them accountable for in regards to their children. Whereas children do have rights in Canadian law. In essence the state has ultimate authority to dictate what happens with your children and parents have no standing before the court if the court decides otherwise.

Yep.
Some kids need to be protected from their parents.
Not enough are: "Between 1974 and 2000, 460 fathers and stepfathers were accused of killing their kids, compared to 400 mothers and stepmothers, according to Statistics Canada." https://canadiancrc.com/newspaper_articles/CBC_Child_Murders_23JUL04.aspx
The whole quote:
"I'd like to say there's no such thing as parental rights in Canada. There are parental responsibilities.
And in Canadian family law the primary responsibility is to support and affirm their kid.
Children have rights in Canada, and these kind of policies restrict the rights that children have."
