Is awesome. Everybody is cool, upvotes everywhere, no downvotes, actual discussion, and love for Canada.
I upvote almost every post because the posts here are good. I haven't downvoted anyone except the Hamsandwichisfaggot troll account. I've been here a few days, and to my knowledge, I've never been downvoted. I've had meaningful interactions.
Every community should be like this. Even when we disagree, we can just talk about things and figure them out.
Really opens your eyes to who the divisive and ugly people in society truly are. Here you can just have a conversation. I will challenge anyone's beliefs with a logical argument. On reddit, I have been banned many times for simply partaking in a controversial discussion.
The collectivist mentality in social media websites that promote a certain narrative is basically you either toe the line or you get harassed, censored and removed. No one actually wants to have a discussion.
I become wary of any community that tries to eliminate a different view. It's not a real community if it does. In real life, they will call you names and shut down potential conversation and walk away. In forums and messageboards, they will downvote you and run away, so you don't even see what talking points they have. You eventually get banned for the simplest of posts.
If there is no discussion, it eventually comes down to groups shrieking louder and louder that you must give them their demands.
I mean even here has its problems. The rules being no racism/antisemitism for example really highlights which race gets special treatment above all others and could be taken as a racist statement in itself lol. Racism is also extremely grey that it shouldn't probably be a rule since what example is racism exactly? If I posted a study that showed black people have lower IQs in the USA than white people is that racism or fact? Too much grey.
With that being said, it's overall fairly good here.
For sure. With all the anti-white racism and genocide rhetoric, it's extremely difficult for white people to talk about it without jumping through hoops.
The rule is very sketchy. Why is there a group tacked on for good measure? Where is the boundary? Why is there a boundary? People should be able to discuss these things like adults. If I were to say something like "all white people should die", I feel that it should stay there and people can have that discussion with me, and if it were replaced by any other "race", the rule and interaction should be the same.
Well, I happen to know why it's on there. There's a meme pic I saw today that said "all online discussions that aren't censored shift right-wing" and there's some truth to that. When you allow racism all discussions move toward Jews, hence why they were explicitly mentioned. That tends to happen when 40% of the billionaires in the USA are Jewish yet only 2.5% of the total population is Jewish. Jewish people have strong tries to all the isms we discuss on this website such as Marxism. It's like that joke internet proverb that all discussions if they go on long enough resort to Hitler comparisons and we all know once Hitler gets brought up where things go.
But it's just too grey and open to moderator interpretation too much. On reddit posting #All Lives Matter might be racist. On here what exactly is and isn't racist? Technically racism is believing one race is better than another race and race is defined by physical characteristics so if you simply refine a race as a culture and specify that you have no issues with the race as per physical characteristics but you do have a problem with the culture that most people of that race happen to follow you're technically not racist but rather perhaps ethnocentric. Is ethnocentrism against the rules? It doesn't appear to be so... So what now? Because I have a feeling some mods are going to confuse ethnocentrism with racism.
I'm the same way.
You're right about the downvotes. If I disagree with truth statement(s) I believe I have III options.
I. Downvote, or silence.
II. Keep scrolling down, or ignore it.
III. Properly refute the argument.
I believe the onus is on me to prove that truth statement untrue, or false.
At times I upvote just so people will see a good debate. It's good conducting commerce in the marketplace of ideas.
We should be capable of civil discourse, but it is difficult when the only Free Speech socials left are the .wins and 4chan, which is disconcerting.
Libertarian Peter Thiel has been influencing Mark Zuckerberg lately, but I'm eternally wary of Facebook.
Candid came and went. That was a phenomenal right-wing app that was opposite of leftist Whisper, but it went the way of Secret.
яeddit seemed to be the Wild West, it is sad what it is has become. :(
