As a young fan of the TV show 'Danger Bay', I always wanted to visit the Aquarium. Shame I might not get that chance, and that what the city has become isn't helping to draw me over from my own shit hole known as Toronto.
There are three levels of the caste system in Vancouver. Junkie, regular joe, and ultra rich.
The ultra rich can get away with anything because money. Pretty easy to comprehend.
The junkies get away with everything due to the presence of the SJW network which funds itself off government grants, tax free status, and thrives due to the fact that the police are scared shitless of junkies.
Imagine, you're 22 years old, regurgitated the right words to get hired, and are now earning 6-figures with full benefits and a pension after 15 years. All you need do is sit on your ass, FIDO each call involving a crackhead, and hope you never go hands on with one lest the powers from on high as a kite come for your badge. Nope, not worth it, I'll let that group smoke meth in the open.
And it's all paid for by the Regular Joe, the taxpaying 40 hour a week working honest person who still naively believes that the police are here to help, that the law applies to everyone, and that justice will prevail in the end. Also, the regular joe is the one who gets harassed by the cops for an open can of beer, for going 52 in a 50 zone, or for trying to prevent their stuff from getting stolen by fighting off a junkie.
And yes I grew up in Vancouver, I remember it's always had rough spots but nothing like now, and I also remember when it felt... well, better. Just better. You'll always have poor people, homeless people, such is life, but Vancouver is gonna have to crash and burn before it can get better.
I remember when I was little if they found a needle in the nearby park and essentially shut down the surrounding area to make sure everything was safe, now your average Vancouver park has 15-20 needles every day and if you call the authorities they’ll tell you there’s nothing they can do about it.
We'll articulated, with a great perspective that I can admire. Why doesn't print or media sound like this anymore?

Just think....
As a child exposure to that TV show had a positive impact on my life, I'm very much a nature and wildlife enthusiast to this day.
Now children are exposed to government enabled junkies shooting up on the streets....
