Not sure why you assume the shotgun wasn't just brought across the border like the majority of the other firearms used in crime, especially in Toronto.

Banning firearms will do very little to stop gun crime. The criminals already own and use their guns illegally, they don't give a shit. All it will do is give criminals complete confidence that the law abiding won't shoot back.
