The western world has turned over its entire manufacturing capacity to the largest emitters then realized how economically fucked they are without it.

My favourite little subplot to this debacle is that Chief Justice Richard Wagner is also the temporary Governor General in a role officially called “Administrator of the Government of Canada”.

So not only does his ruling have potential long term ramifications for confederation and the division of powers, but he is in charge of said confederation. Has anyone heard any updates on Trudeau’s quest to find the right disabled indigenous queer to serve as the next GG? Or is Trudeau quite happy to continue on with this little arrangement where the head of the Justice system is also the head of government?

We’re already starting to see the effects of this. Health care is the biggest spending category of every province, and spending continues to increase as the boomers get old and sick. Deficit spending across the country is routine to cover this spending, and taxes is the only way to cover this. Birth rates are low since people are spending their fertile years clawing out of debt and trying to start “real life”, and ever increasing taxes to cover the new spending does not help this. So the government lies to immigrants, promising them prosperity, and then bring them in to work shit tier jobs and never advance to keep the bottom from falling out of the system.

I was too young to really understand what happened on 9/11 until much later. I don’t remember a world pre 9/11 either. But occasionally throughout school I would read or see something about what life was like back then, and think that something was up.

Later in university I found out that hard work and doing my best wasn’t worth fuck all. A persons skin colour could really help them along, even the biggest fuckup would be passed along if they had the right skin.

Over the past few years, seeing the quality of who we elect to be politicians has really made me think too. A lot of, if no most of, our politicians now are hacks that couldn’t make it in a normal career and are only running to be elected as it’s the best possible career they can obtain. Our politicians are no longer business leaders, scientific experts, or even regular people that started with nothing and built a life from scratch. All we get are hacks that have been opportunistic leaches for their entire careers.

And of course the final nail in the coffin has been the past year of covid horseshit.

This ship is lodged sideways in the Suez Canal, shutting down all shipping through it.

Living in a van or small RV is actually better then this. At least you have wheels and can leave.

No this is sobeys. I never go into coop as it’s always more expensive. Now coop gasoline however, the 4 cents a litre back is the best deal I have found yet.

There was no bay leaves at the grocery store for 2 weeks. They had everything else, but no bay leaves.

In the grocery store, there is a constant shortage of canned pineapples. If there is any on the shelf, there’s only a few cans of the house brand and it’s crushed pineapple, not the more useful tidbits or rings. Also at the grocery store the display for the deli counter is not as full of sandwich meat as it once was.

How did he get past the azeotrope point at 95.5%?

Worst case you can stretch out gasoline by blending ethanol. Just need to make sure you get the purity high enough.

westerners fear death and avoid it

That is ultimately it. The west turned its back on religion, and without religion there is no heaven or hell or afterlife. Our modern conveniences and medicine have removed us from our biological reality.

My grandparents where shocked and horrified that I was “not in a big rush to get vaccinated”. I might as well just said to them that “I’m never getting the injection period” (which is the actual truth).

They where the type that called Alberta health 50 times the very first day shots where available and celebrated getting it. Ultimately they come from a different time, they went to school in a buggy pulled by a horse, and watched man land on the moon before their 40th birthday. It’s inconceivable to them that scientists could be wrong.

If it was an in person convention things would have gone a lot differently. O’toole might have even got booed off the stage.

I’ve even seen young roughnecks and welders that don’t smoke. Now they still drink like fish, but they don’t smoke.

Even if I withdraw my TFSA, the money would be worth fuck all. Bitcoins or gold might be worth something, so would real estate. But in a deep enough crisis, the government could and probably will seize assets. How do we avoid getting fucked. I know I have joked in the past that ammunition will be a valuable commodity, but are we actually on the way to that?

Has anyone figured out what the new “Secure the Future” logo is supposed to mean with the long tip coming off the R and folding over into the U?

Different people. Lt.-Gen. Frances Allen is the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.

The article is about Lt.-Col. Eleanor Taylor who seems to have had a very distinguished career.

They where harping about how this will make more jobs. How are they going to do that? More call centre workers to handle the increased complaints?

Some good discussion in there. But a lot of it circles back to “if only the right people got elected”. Unfortunately for them, and for us, both sides don’t want to risk tampering with the only thing that’s keeping the Canadian economy somewhat afloat. It’s so cliche to say, but “there are no simple answers”

I’m kind of looking of buying right now. I have what I thought I would need when I set my goal last year, but this year it’s looking like I need another year of savings.

With the way things are going a large yard where I can grow vegetables is looking to be necessary.

We’re way beyond a band aid. The government is wrapping the economy in gauze while blood is pouring out and is saying “nothing to see here”

The birds will come home to roost. It will be an unprecedented economic disaster. All that cash that Canadians are sitting on is fresh cash that the government printed and handed out as stimulus. Like shit, I only have a job right now because of government stimulus.
