Most people have cognitive biases that are tailored towards viewpoints they already hold. That's not specific to leftists, and it would be ridiculous to try to suggest that the right does not do this.

My point is that people that get very specialized degrees in a certain subject are most likely more knowledgeable about that subject than both you and I. It's okay to take advise from knowledgeable people instead of blindly dismissing them because it doesn't fit your narrative.

I am perfectly capable of thinking myself. But I also understand that, unlike you, I am not an expert in everything. So I need qualified people to make informed decisions for me that are not based strictly on opinion.
