NDP and Green “split the vote” too. Who cares.
Maybe the cons need good leaders and good policies rather than more excuses.
I used to think the same way but ultimately I've come to the conclusion that 'conservative' leaders always suck and act like pathetic cucks because 75% of the 'conservative' base are suckers and chumps and act like pathetic cucks.
They don't actually want 'conservatism' -- they want someone that's a big-L Liberal-lite. They'll never have someone that I consider to be a 'good' leader, and I accept that. That's why I've moved on to support Berniers party.
Who gets to define “pure conservatism”? You?
Besides, I’m not interested in “pure conservatism”. I’m not even sure it exists.
What I do know is that Bernier is a classical Liberal... and that’s ok with me...

Good ideas and good leaders matter - not old labels that aren’t even universal.
I wouldn't even put myself as a conservative. I'm pretty indifferent towards issues like abortion, gay marriage, and religion in general. What I can't stand is being over taxed and watching our leaders favour foreigners instead of investing in our own citizens. Unfortunately it's a tough sell at this point to argue that the tories are any less incompetent than Trudeau's Liberals. Quite frankly at this point I don't even think that they are. Canada's right wing is not only dickless, but they don't seem to have a plan or any interest in going in a different direction from the current gov.
bingo
There are four left leaning and one right leaning party in the parliament. And somehow the left can still win elections.
Leftists should care. Because fragmenting left-wing support across multiple parties helps nobody except the CPC.
Like Max and the PPC? Why, so they can come out of elections with zero seats and singe digit vote shares? Yeah, that's a great plan.
“Good policies and good leaders” wasn’t an allusion to Max and ppc.
The fact you thought it was shows Max is living rent-free in your head!
Ham doesn't care about conservative policies. He's said many times just do whatever the polls say.
He’s with her! Makes sense.
He got like 3% or something. Even if every single voter voted conservative, at best it would have triggered a recount, but still not enough for conservatives to win. Its a shame the political system is so broken. Most of population doesnt even know who he is, that he was in line to be conservative leader, was ousted by a cartel and is now running a party of his own after several years.
I make no excuses about the fact that my 'dream government' is either a massive PPC majority OR a very weak CPC minority government propped up by the PPC so that the PPC can hold these weak CPC cucks to account for fucking once.
Exactly..polls show a good portion of Canadians want lower immigration numbers, the CPC would be better off running on that instead of whining about how they’re entitled to votes.
The rebuttal to that is immigration is further down the list in importance in comparison to the economy, climate change, etc. So CPC needs to frame the immigration situation in those terms which can be done, the problem is they are afraid of being called racist.
None of the red tory interests at the heart of the CPC want that, though.
That by-election was blatantly won by the people who didn't bother to vote.
Bernier shouldn't have touched this by-election but I understand the strategy.
He needed a seat for legitimacy.
He would have actually had a chance had he stayed in his father's riding and focused solely on at least getting back in the House.
Who would have thought that one would get any amount of attention during this US election? Anyone could have predicted that it would have been a farce. It was obvious and Bernier needed attention to have a chance in York Centre.
I'd love to kick his strategists in the nuts, followed by the team that runs his twitter account.
Bernier basically wasted a few months running in a by-election where the CPC and the LPC brought in heavy-hitters when he should have been putting in the groundwork in his own riding, with the idea that a proper election is coming soon.
I still believe that he would make a great Prime Minister, but my fuck is his team ever incompetent and their strategies are completely wrong.
Never forget that if the 'conservatives' didn't suck as much as they have / currently do that NONE of this would have ever been a problem.
But the left didn't lose the popular vote. 2/3 of Canadians voted for a party on the left in the last election.
Sounds very similar to "anybody but Trump".
We will see how it goes with Trump. I think that Biden has a better chance than Clinton to win, but who knows. Hard to believe that it will be a "red wave" like Trump promises. It wasn't one during the midterms in 2018 and it won't be one next week. Will be a tight one. Unless Biden pulls a miracle and wins Florida (or even Texas).
As if Trump could have done better? In my opinion, much better. In my eyes he's just a retard, but I know that this isn't a popular opinion here. And it's not in particular about his behavior, but more about the way he handles things. He lambasted for years that the US got the short stick with NAFTA because of the trade deficit with Mexico, so he signed a new deal. And yet somehow with the new deal Trump managed to almost double the trade deficit with Mexico. Under no president did the trade deficit with Mexico increase as much as under Trump. Somehow this is a "big win" for the US according to Trump.
