Ontario has a population of almost 15 million. Quebec is at 8.5 million. This is 62% of the current population in Canada. Quebec and Ontario also get 60% of the seats in the parliament. Seems fair.
Tyranny of the majority is not fair. California and couple other democrat strongholds/immigrant shitholes could decide US elections on its own if they used popular vote-like systems or proportional representation like we do. Combine with governments that place immigrants in specific areas to flood them and you get massive corruption of political system by "democracy". Currently, any political party can put 100% of their efforts into winning Ontario and will do better in any election than "wasting" resources touring rest of Canada or learning what thier problems and political/social concerns are. They can literally ignore the entire country and do better politically because of how our system works. Thats not fair by any definition.
You currently sound like the Democrats complaining about the Electoral College.
Like Harper who flooded the country with 220 to 250 thousands immigrants a year to help the Liberals?
Dude. As you can see with Doug Ford and Harper, Conservatives can win easily a majority in even immigrant heavy districts. In 2011 Harper won over 75% of all districts in the GTA. Maybe you should stop bitching like some cuck and somehow help the CPC to address the issues of voters in cities.
How is this different than in the US? There are 6 or 7 swing states which decide the election. The other 45 states are ignored by the candidates. Imagine Canada had an electoral college like the US. Ontario would account for 40% of all electors. And Quebec would account for 20% of all electors. Doesn't change a thing. Win Ontario and Quebec and you form the government.
That's been Canada for 30 years at least, so not sure why you are mentioning Harper, who hasnt been mentioned or brought up. He's also been out of power for better part of a decade now.
As for majority in Ontario, https://ibb.co/pX2Y052 - there you go. Youve proven my point - Toronto Metro Kitchener, Guelph, Niagra, couple other areas and Montreal and a pretty much blue map of Canada is Liberal run.
You can look up Trump rallies - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_post-election_Donald_Trump_rallies - hes visited almost every state during campaign and doesnt campaign exclusively in swing states. The US also has far more power allocated to states. Canada is ruled top down - the provinces have little say in anything that matters and illusion of power/control over their affairs. Being president doesnt give you the kind of power being PM of Canada does - youc an see what Trudeau has done with a minority government and how they can block all investigations into WE and lavlin and panama papers and so on. If you think they only care about swing states, you can see how actively not campaigning in areas cost Hilary her election where they lost major democrat strongholds they thought were locked and ignored as just one factor in their loss. There's no reason to visit Nova Scotia or Newfoundland for more than a quick handshake photo op and back on plane for any politician in Canada right now.
Because you bitch about Liberals flooding the country with immigrants to win election, while even the Conservative flood the country with immigrants. Are the Conservatives trying to get Liberals elected?
And in these red areas the majority of the people live. You can google the same map for the 2011 election and you will see that Toronto is 80% blue. Conservatives can win election in Toronto.
LOL. Since June he visited only one non swing state, which is Oklahoma. Where are his rallies in New York or California? Or Oregon? Why doesn't he campaign in this states right now? Are the voters not worth a dime there?
Absolute bullshit. And the best example for that is Covid. It wasn't Trudeau that locked down our economy. He doesn't even have the power to do that. It was Ford, Kenney, Legault and Horgan. But yeah, the feds have "the power in Canada". Trudope can't even built a pipeline because BC doesn't want to. SO MUCH POWER.
Hillary had 20 campaign rallies and events in Pennsylvania. She didn't ignored it and still lost. She campaigned in North Carolina, and still lost it.
And there is no reason for Trump to visit Montana, Idaho, Alabama, Louisiana or Arkansas during the hot phase of a election. Even if we had the same electoral college system as the US, do you really think that politicians would start visiting NS or NFL when they would only account for 15 of the 340 electors?
