Last weekend people in Toronto got arrested for protesting against the lockdown. There was no violence, vandalism or anything else that might be used as a pretense for shutting it down. The government simply passed a law that made it illegal to protest against that law.
I don't know why anyone is still questioning if we're living in a police state.

What if its BLM INFUSED protest, that would certainly leave them confused.
I live in a town without RCMP station. I wouldn't know.
