Your choice. Mid-size trucks are good if you live in a bigger city and don't have too much parking space or if you want to do some off-roading, but otherwise ... . They cost the same as full size pickups. Oh, and every mid-size truck besides the Ford Ranger is made in Mexico as far as I know.
You can't buy a small truck anymore. They died out 15 years ago. I know on old Dodge 50 with 500,000km (must be on it's 5th set of rings and bearings) and the owner has no intentions in replacing it. Joke is the ignition swith is so worn out his keys fall out so it doesn't bother using them.
True, mid-size trucks of today are as big as full size ones from three decades ago. And honestly they aren't worth it either. A Ford Ranger will cost you the same as a F150.
Though Ford is coming out with a new small pickup, the Maverick. But I don't know if people will call it a truck, since it's not body on frame.
No worries. Soon everyone will be driving electric cars and will only need to be concerned with the price of electricity! Lol
Stop! You are ruining the dream.
I laugh at every full size pickup truck/suv grocery-getter I see rolling. They all forgot gas once hit $1.40/l.
Ford and GM/Chevy are the only ones that offer engines with less than 3L of displacement on full size pickups (as far as I know).

Tacoma’s are built in the states
The Ford Ranger has a 2.3L four cylinder. If you want something with more displacement and more cylinders, the Ford is out the window.
