I've never been a big fan of holding hands and singing kumbaya, but I once believed that we wanted to get to work and do our best, come home at the end of the day and enjoy the company of friends and family. Now, I seem to fight to get to work, fight with coworkers, fight to get home, get inside and lock the doors because it is not safe to even be out anymore. I feel I am in a big competition, but I don't know the game or what I'm playing for because almost every time I try to participate of become part of a conversation, I am a white, married woman with children, but apparently that privilege had rendered me untouchable.
It was lost a long time ago. Too much government. People come to rely on assistance. People lose drive. They lose ambition. They want to be taken care of. People that want to make money and succeed are derided as materialistic and selfish. I left many years ago because I found the people so lame. Now when I visit I find people even more dependent on government. “Listen to the government - they’ll take care of you”. Fuck off!
I make a low six-figure salary. I don't work particularly hard, especially during the last year of work-from-home nonsense. I could pursue some "side hustle" to make more money, I've got the time and energy. Why bother though? For every additional dollar I make almost half of it gets stolen. Why take risks and employ other people when the marginal utility to the risk-taker is beaten down so badly. I'll just micromanage my TFSA, extract as much money as I can from the market, and keep 100% of the winnings, thanks.
I would consider this accurate. I'm not sure I would lambaste all of canada with it so much as the political elite but someone has to vote for those idiots.
