I'm glad they tried to appeal this, but why did they not try to appeal the Khadr ruling. Apparently $40,000 is the maximum allowed under the Canadian Human Rights Act. How the eff did that guy walk away with $10 million, no appeal.
Because the Khadr case wasn't argued under the Canadian Human Rights Act. It was argued under the Charter of Rights. The Supreme Court ruled that the federal government infringed on the Charter of Rights with Khadr (this happened already under Harper) and that the feds had to pay. Then Trudeau said fuck it and settled with him for $10 million.
