If you are a coward and are scared of a virus with a 3 in 1000 chance of dying then it is up to you to live the coward's life, go hide under your bed. You do not have the right to take my liberties away and make me withdraw from life because of your cowardice.
Tell that to Mark Friesen.
In Canada to date 1,638,239 people have recovered from the virus and 28,729 have not (https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/epidemiological-summary-covid-19-cases.html#a1)
That's 17 in 1000.
Then there are the 165,000 or so people who are experiencing Long Covid. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-long-covid-is-painful-expensive-and-so-far-impossible-to-cure/ So that bumps the number up to about 115 out of 1000. That's a better than 1 in 10 chance of dying or not recovering completely for a long time, if ever.
Plus the chance of passing it on to someone vulnerable, directly or indirectly, even if you come out of it OK in the end.
The only problem with your analysis is you're forgetting about all the people who only experience cold like symptoms and never get tested. This number is huge and is sometimes estimated to be up to 10X the number of cases we have stats for.
On top of that we know that people who die "with covid" but not "from covid" are still being counted as a covid death. This number is smaller overall but when you have such a low amount of deaths per cases it makes a big difference.
This is a bad flu and the people scared about it can get a vaccine. Problem solved. No need to turn the west into an authoritarian state of medical tyranny and force the jab into kids who are essentially unaffected by this virus.
I'll need more than your word for how big that number is. Keep in mind that there have been over 45,000,000 tests in Canada. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
I remember that case in Alberta a week or two ago. Do you have any sources for those numbers in general?
No, it's not. There are influenza viruses and coronaviruses. Flu and covid are similar the way hippos and rhinos are similar, but they are different animals. https://ogden_images.s3.amazonaws.com/www.adirondackdailyenterprise.com/images/2020/03/18235238/a5GastCOVID19_Influenza.png
Covid's impact appears to be about 10 times worse: "Flu: The World Health Organization estimates that 290,000 to 650,000 people die of flu-related causes every year worldwide." Almost 4 million people have died from covid since Oct. 25,2020.
and
"The COVID-19 situation continues to change, sometimes rapidly. Doctors and scientists are working to estimate the mortality rate of COVID-19. At present, it is thought to be substantially higher (possibly 10 times or more) than that of most strains of the flu." https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-disease-2019-vs-the-flu
A friend works in tesring and the normal flu test is more expensive than a pcr test for covid, so they stopped tested for flu and just went inflated cycle pcr for about a year now.
This is retarded gobbledygook. Did you know that a good percentage of colds are caused by coronaviruses?
Exactly, sounds like a bad flu to me. I don't disagree with the stats, I just interpret them differently than you do. This whole reaction to covid has been disproportionate to the risk.
It sounds like you aren't paying enough attention if you're asking me for sources on things that are common knowledge. Do you need a source that the sky is blue before you'll believe me too?
You know about 10% of adults and 20-30% of children catch the flu, translating to around 3 million flu cases a year or more
https://www.toronto.ca/community-people/health-wellness-care/diseases-medications-vaccines/influenza-flu-fact-sheet/
If covid spreads more easily let's multiply that by 2x for 6 million cases
28k/6 million = .46% exclude the dementia patient deaths and its so small you'll get an error on the calculator
GTFO with your bullshit
Your analysis implies that covid in 2 years spreads at a lower rate than influenza
So far it's only you saying there have been 6 million cases of covid. Why should I believe you?
