Ya, this is it. Tell a far-left loony that that covid vaccines currently don't prevent infection and their go-to is to deflect to "ya, but less burden on hospital."
Yes, the vaccines have helped put less burden on our hospitals. But when I tell you that current covid vaccines don't prevent infection, your deflection doesn't change this fact.
Tell a far-left loony that that seat belts currently don't prevent injuries and their go-to is to deflect to "ya, but less burden on hospital."
Yeah. Dumb, eh?
I think you're missing the point. Nobody here is disputing that vaccines alleviate the burden on hospitals. That's not what's being argued here.
Your camp are bent on punishing the unvaccinated on the basis that they're "putting you at risk". Vaccine passports, mass firings, vilification, second class citizens status. This was all predicated on the idea that the unvaccinated were "killing grandma" and generally delaying the end of this pandemic.
Then when we show you that no, in fact they're not putting you or grandma at risk or delaying the end of the pandemic, you abandon that argument and retreat to the "But less burdens on hospitals" straw man that nobody was arguing against. And you do it without conceding that the "putting you at risk" argument is bunk.
If you want to argue for vaccines on the basis that it alleviates the burden on hospitals then fine. That's a valid argument. But at least have the good faith to concede that the "You're putting me at risk and perpetuating the pandemic" narrative is wrong.
I acknowledge that. At one point in the vaccine/variant dance being vaccinated slowed down transmission and passed a less robust virus. But that's not the case any more and if anyone is still arguing that give 'em hell.
These days I'm arguing strictly for the "benefits to the healthcare system" angle, and I reserve the right to change if necessary if/when the next variant arrives.
Are you in favour of the BMI passport I floated?
