Guns are not the problem. A certain ghetto subculture is. Compare gun crime in the United States to gun crime in Canada (where a lot of people own rifles and even hand guns), or to Switzerland or Israel where every family has an M16 or equivalent. Most shootings in the US are black on black and over senseless minor disagreements. Until we address this inconvenient fact, nothing will change.

You might say that depriving them of guns would help. Yes it would in an hypothetical scenario where everyone is disarmed at the same time, but the reality is that the criminals would be the last to give up their arms if they can be disarmed at all. Criminalizing gun possession by law abiding citizens only empowers criminals and dictatorial regimes.

Plus even if guns were removed from the equation the assholes that commit most of the murders would switch to something else. There is a reason that acid and knife attacks are on the rise in England, particularly in the racialized areas of London.
