I’ve stopped giving money to my university. I can not in good conscience support an institution whose values no longer align with mine. And I have told them why they won’t get any more money from me. It’ll take a lot of people doing this before they change but we must start somewhere.
It appears influenza is more lethal for younger people than Covid. And Covid is worse for older people. Many, perhaps most people, simply don’t understand how bad flu can be. I think many get a light case of the flu or even a bad cold and think they’ve had the flu. When it hits full force it is terrible. Problem is the media has made such a show out of Covid it’s hard to get any points across in a rational manner. As soon as you mention flu and Covid together you get accused of spreading misinformation etc. Once we have more data influenza will probably be the right point of comparison.
CBC is purposely misleading people referring to itself as “public”. The CBC is a private corporation owned by the state. That is quite simply a state or state-owned company, compared to a public, or publicly traded company. It is not public in any sense. And it can’t claim it is public because it is is not directed by the state. It is certainly not directed by the public either. If it is not directly controlled by the state then it is managed and directed by high level bureaucrats influenced by the state and state money. No more bullshit. The CBC is a state-owned and controlled company. And it’s pure shite.
The government has misrepresented this and no one calls them out. At best, some people will get a rebate on part of the actual carbon tax paid. But what about inflation caused by the carbon tax? The most simple to understand is the increase in food and transport prices caused by higher fuel costs. These increase will be caused by higher carbon taxes but are indirect costs. Yet these higher costs won’t be rebated. This is a tax grab pure and simple.
I’m a final year Boomer, so on the cusp of Gen X. I think you generalize too much. The main point of agreement is that the youngest generations are pussified. Having spent many years abroad I can confidently say these generational classifications apply mainly to Canada and the US, and to a lesser extent other western countries. The problems facing western countries and the attitudes people have in these countries are not shared by much of the world. The people I have worked with from much of Asia, Australia and NZ, and parts of Africa, regardless of age, are much tougher, driven and don’t want to put up with shit. They don’t need safe spaces. They want to work hard and do well and make money. Women are feminine and men are masculine. The western world has neutered three or four successive generations. It’s a tragedy. Parts of the so-called developing world will pass the west in a couple of decades, and that’s ignoring parts that are already ahead.
I did the math and it looks like they are on track for about 94k deaths. Perhaps not statistically significant (I don’t know) but not indiscernible. More research into the numbers would be required to draw any firm conclusions. What I think is clear is that they were correct in their approach. There is nothing in the numbers that justifies the draconian policies implemented almost everywhere else.
I’d trust Taiwan more than the Philippines also! I’ve lived in Singapore for almost 25 years. Three of my kids were born there. I traveled extensively throughout Asia and it was never raised as a requirement or an issue. I think we’ve discussed this before. I’ll look into it since I’m moving my main residence from Singapore to Indonesia early next year.
Coming soon to Canada.
