You're absolutely right. This is what it's all about ultimately - not red team vs blue team, or 'my' ideology or 'your' identity politics, it's about a generation of majority emotionally fucked up children growing up to adulthood.
I believe research indicates that parents, particularly the mother, must be around consistently and reliably until a child hits 18 months before it is sufficiently bonded enough to be able to be without her. In the US, mat leave is what, 6 weeks? Became 1 year in Canada ~20-odd years ago. All these career women who wanted children but not to be a parent high-tailed back to the office as soon as they could, as being a mom was so demeaning.
Generation X's kids - the people in these mug shots - are all kinds of fucked up now. Why is that every family I know has at least one kid that's fucked in the head in a fairly serious way, like they probably won't be able to be a productive member of society.
