GTA has around 60 seats and Montreal area has around 25. So less than 25% of the seats in the parliament.
I misspoke in terminology since GTA officially only refers to couple regions around Toronto. I'm talking about lower Ontario where majority of population resides. ie not the giant swath of empty land in the north west Ontario. Hamilton, Ottawa, etc. Same applies to Montreal's surrounding area in my assessment. Both provinces make up around 200 seats of the 330ish. Majority of their seats are centralized around Toronto and Montreal with rest of province with sparse representation in comparison. It's hyperbole on 60%, but not by much.
Ontario has a population of almost 15 million. Quebec is at 8.5 million. This is 62% of the current population in Canada. Quebec and Ontario also get 60% of the seats in the parliament. Seems fair.
Tyranny of the majority is not fair. California and couple other democrat strongholds/immigrant shitholes could decide US elections on its own if they used popular vote-like systems or proportional representation like we do. Combine with governments that place immigrants in specific areas to flood them and you get massive corruption of political system by "democracy". Currently, any political party can put 100% of their efforts into winning Ontario and will do better in any election than "wasting" resources touring rest of Canada or learning what thier problems and political/social concerns are. They can literally ignore the entire country and do better politically because of how our system works. Thats not fair by any definition.
You currently sound like the Democrats complaining about the Electoral College.
Like Harper who flooded the country with 220 to 250 thousands immigrants a year to help the Liberals?
Dude. As you can see with Doug Ford and Harper, Conservatives can win easily a majority in even immigrant heavy districts. In 2011 Harper won over 75% of all districts in the GTA. Maybe you should stop bitching like some cuck and somehow help the CPC to address the issues of voters in cities.
How is this different than in the US? There are 6 or 7 swing states which decide the election. The other 45 states are ignored by the candidates. Imagine Canada had an electoral college like the US. Ontario would account for 40% of all electors. And Quebec would account for 20% of all electors. Doesn't change a thing. Win Ontario and Quebec and you form the government.
