Harper lost his job because he did very poorly in 2015 in the urban metros of Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, etc. Which have many seats among them. Harper being axed had nothing to do with Scheer, Bernier, etc. or even Trudeau for that matter. Not all voters in urban metros are woke SJWs. The working class in the urban metros are not getting anything of real substance from the Liberal-Conservative duopoly and so many of them don't vote. Housing prices and rents rise a lot faster than wages.
The Tories are the party of the wealthy elite and the Liberals are for the woke wealthy elite. You think the Tories are for your small business and the little guy? Think again. Look at what's going on in Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba. The Tories stick to their neo-liberal globalist agenda until the public gets sick of the Liberals. And the Liberals solidify the neo-liberal globalist agenda and does some woke shit and throws some crumbs to the plebs to differentiate themselves from the Tories.
Harper did everywhere terrible in 2015. The CPC lost every single seat in the Maritimes and the Liberal even overtook the CPC in Manitoba.
To be honest, the Tories haven't been influential in the Maritimes for quite a while anyways. I lived out there for a bit and many people spend half of the year on EI when winter kicks in, they will never vote for people that they are scared will cut their benefits (even if many do hold conservative values). Voting PC provincially and Liberals federally is a common thing out there.
Harper won over 80% off all seats in the Maritimes in 2011.
That was more of anomaly than a sign of how the region is trends as a whole. Tbh, it baffles me that Newfies continue to vote Liberal when they are killing their oil industry completely off.
