Really depends on the family. From what I understand there were more Irish converts to the COI than to Presbyterianism. So I’d say that Irish Anglicans probably have more Irish in them if I had to guess.
In the end no one can really tell these days. People have been moving from Ulster to Scotland and back again for generations so the genetic signature is basically the same (Ulster dialects of Irish also have more in common with Scottish Gaelic and Manx).
I know he definitely meant Fenians though haha I was just taking the piss.
But my nan is also like half Fenian so I wouldn’t get to exist regardless hahaha.
I was taking the piss, but WASPs tended not to group Ulstermen and orange Irish in with Catholic Irish. There, the bigotry on Douglas' part was more cultural than ethnic.
Fenian or Orange Irish?
Really though, good to know I’m here because Douglas didn’t go on an Irish sterilization spree.

I'm Orange Irish and my AncestryDNA came up almost exclusively Irish.
I'm sure there were a lot of colonizers but don't underestimate the number of Irish converts.
