What "extra" they havent announced any new tax. Your tax burden is unchanged and they are offering new service. At least so far...
Flipside, why is this beneficial to society? This doesnt fix anything in the short term at all.
Lets look at the worker shortage of 2030. As boomers retire, there will be a worker shortage. Their replacements, those turning the age where they start working is set in stone. You cant magic new teenagers into existence if they werent born to canadians already.
Wait they are magicly producing new teenagers for this worker shortage of 2030? Immigration! >400,000 people a year. We have to build a new kitchener or new london every year to house all these immigrants that we bring in.
The government became so hostile toward parents that we are at historic lows for births. We are on the verge of a population collapse and unless we get to some baby making... it's a very very bad time for all of us.
So I will take it you are pro-immigration and anti-family.
For the record, as we get closer to 2030, they need to increase annual immigration slightly more. So you will be pleased.
Incidentally Germany is way ahead of us in so many ways. Afterall Hans Rosling was who first brought the issue to light and told Germany what they needed to do.
So Europeans wont be coming here. I can't fathom anyone in the USA coming here. So you can see why Trudeau is focusing on Syrians, Afghans, and Yemeni.
why the fuck does this country need a population of 100 million?
The government should not be in the business of childcare. That's your responsibility when you stick your dick in a woman and get her pregnant. What are the string attached to this government funding? To me, this looks like a way for the government to start indoctrinating children at an early age, or else you get no funding.
Just a way for the government to indoctrinate the kids early.
That's cool, finally something useful for families with kids. This is good government policy similar to Orban's Hungary. Help families with kids, give more money to them. Giving money to families with kids is healthy, better than funding abortions overseas!
Better would be to cut taxes so people can afford these types of services.
What this will do is incentivize those most marginalized to become wards of the state.
Cutting taxes would benefit both liberals and conservatives. Families tend to vote right, I would rather a policy benefiting right-wing voters and depriving left-wing voters - fuck'em.
Not sure who is down-voting this post, but they are misguided. This is finally giving us back money, it's either that or we have nothing and leftist NGOs get it all!
Some people politically believe all taxation is evil.
For me it's more nuanced. Imagine the government as a business. You pay(taxation) for goods and services. Ideally the money is used well. We do need police and justice system. We do need military.
Flipside, take this or similar 'baby bonuses' it's society's way of boosting or incentivizing people to have children. That is afterall how society continues. It's going to be a net-positive for society to do this.
Even single payer healthcare. Covering a cheap shitty lowest tier possible health insurance that barely covers anything but does at least cover the essentials means your society has a net-positive benefit. entrepreneurs and poor folks who cant afford healthcare dont have to worry about the essentials. private insurance covers the rest. The debate is how much should ohip cover.
Flipside, sending how many billions to other countries so that they can build renewable energy? FUCK NO.
These people are not living in reality.
In Conservative Utopia, sure - no more tax. But at the moment, we are in Liberal Dystopia, and we are being taxed to death to fund the leftist agenda in all spheres of life.
Since taxation exists, and its all going to leftist causes, we need to fight so conservatives also get some money back and tip the balance.
I have a kid, and I'm conservative, so more money in my pocket. More power to my family, and we will live longer that way, it's better for the right-wing cause.
At this point, we should support any tax mandate that would deplete the left and enrich the right. That's what they do to us.
Seems fully sustainable. What could go wrong?
