Why have they made you think ubi is a bad idea? It's literally worked everywhere it was tested. Imagine if everyone could reliably pay rent and could pursue what they genuinely want to
All of the "studies" of UBI only study the spending part of the equation and where the money comes from. Therefore all the studies out there are incomplete and invalid.
You'd think she has read them all, wouldn't you folks?
If you're interested in the topic see the 'References' on the Universal Basic Income Wikipedia page. I'd suggest these: 84, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97 for starters.
84 - How a Basic Income Program Saved a Namibian Village
Nambian village article from 2009- not apples apples.
Comparing needs of a 30M plus pop 1st world country to a 3rd world village is silly and dishonest. Not to mention the methods and determinants they would use here certainly would not match
Otjivero is the name if you want to look up articles thats not just emotional whinging
93- Gyeonggi Province sets example for universal basic income
China, done after locking people in their homes during covid- wielding people in. I guess they got the money from somewhere. Needing it only after devastating their own local economies for no reason.
94- Is Universal Basic Income the Key to Happiness in Asia?
Question article. "OMG We could heckin do this" Not actual info.

96 - How a universal basic income stabilized Kenyans in bad times
(same story was referenced in 86) ANOTHER ONE THAT STEMS FROM COVID. Opening paragraph: "As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to exacerbate existing inequality, a new study suggests that a universal basic income may help the world’s poorest and most vulnerable populations weather crises like the pandemic a little easier."
My heart it doth bleed. "less likely to go hungry" real firm conclusion, bro. This was done during the pandemic when no one was allowed to work by government (over a total 12 cases of course). Meaning it was forced upon them. Now they want to talk about how great it must have been. What a joke.
97 -Universal basic income helped Kenyans weather COVID-19 - but it’s not a silver bullet
Hey literally the same kenya story!
And yet, our study showed that universal basic income is not a silver bullet. A great benefit of guaranteed income, since it provides enough to cover basics [not defined- CAD government once considered clothing non-essential, long before the pandemic], is that it encourages risk-taking – such as starting a business – and investment in the future.
In data we collected in 2019, we saw that the recipients were more likely to have started new businesses and see their business profits grow. But when the government instituted restrictions (during the lean season), these increased profits disappeared. However, it did allow these entrepreneurs to stay in business. In spite of the losses in profits, they were still able to sustain improvements in food security relative to the control group.
This finding underscores the limitations of universal basic income. It didn’t provide protection against the business income loss and encouraged some individuals to take on more risk before the crisis by starting a business. This isn’t a failing of universal basic income – as the main motivation for universal basic income is to help the poor with basic livelihoods – rather, it’s a reminder that it’s not designed to deal with such extreme situations as this pandemic.*
*pandemic response. Fixed that for her. I like how theyre quick to dismiss any failings as not actually failings. But again, this is no where near an apples-apples comparison. If the best you have is CHINA with its expiring currency youre in for a trip. How dare you make me read this garbage.
Fortunately I think we're probably screwed and this will be forced upon us whether we want it or not. So hey, for the record, I HOPE youre right Now be a good boy and get your safe and effective[tm] booster
Just giving the folks some real-world examples of the concept, as opposed to OP's "I've read ALL the studies and they're trash" - which appears to be your position too.
