So far, Trump is kicking ass. He has brought prosperity to the people of the United States AND the people of Canada, despite our own incompetent governance. That’s likely because the economy is booming and many more people want to come to the US. Plus, ICE and DHS have to be extra mindful how they police because of the increased publicity of their actions. It is certainly not the result of Trump’s policies.
He took credit for the slump in 2017. Therefore he is also responsible for the increase in 2018 and 2019. It doesn't go both ways.

Well, for a legal immigrant that wants to apply for permanent residency, they need a criminal record check both from their home country and in Canada, including fingerprints. They also need a sponsor that will be financially liable for them if they become in need of government support such as welfare, or proof of wealth. in the form of savings to ensure they aren't a drain on Canadian services. Truth is we have a strict and robust screening for legal immigration, that it's the people walking across our border demanding free shit that i think is a problem.
