At the time of this murder, Aidarus was on Federal Parole and a participant in the Electronic Monitoring Program, while serving a cumulative sentence of 2 years, 2 months & 15 days since 2019 for offences including robbery, using an imitation firearm, disguise with intent and failing to comply with a recognizance, for incidents that occurred in the Region of Halton.
Aidarus, the son of Somali refugees, was sentenced to 18 months in June of 2019 for bank robberies he committed while on probation. Now he has committed murder, again while on probation.

He was observed selling drugs while on bail, he was reported to be armed, he crashed into multiple vehicles and a house while attempting to flee police before being shot when he drove towards two officers. A loaded handgun was found on him.
