The reality is that people seek out ideological echo chambers. If you dump random people onto a site with 80% liberals and 20% conservatives then slowly the conservatives will leave the site until it's nearly 100% liberal. The same thing happens no matter what divide exists. It's why this site is overwhelmingly PPC supporters in spite of the fact that the PPC has had around 2% support for years. If it starts to become culturally normal for racists to post racist shit here then non-racists will leave for other sites while racists will continue to grow. Maybe you don't care but the decision to ignore it is still a decision and it will impact the future of the site and the types of conversations that will be had on it.

The comments themselves make the community look vile. If you don't like seeing trash like that try calling it out every now and then or at very least throw a down vote at it.

I get why Hammy doesn't like these comments but his behaviour is part of a deeper problem he has where he has no idea how to do anything positive. Look any every post or comment he makes. He complains about the PPC and the Liberals but he's never had anything nice to say about his CPC. He'll never build support for his party like that in the same way he'll never build support for this site by bashing it elsewhere. If he wants this community to thrive he should be promoting the aspects that he finds positive to try to build a broader community. He may even find some CPC supporters who can come and argue why the CPC is actually a good party. His currently conduct will only attract more racists while repelling non-racists.

The MSM is already reporting that being anti-lockdown is "far-right"

Mine asked for gender, liberal gender, martial status, languages spoken, where I learned my second language.

Apparently I'm widowed, bilingual and learned French through an emersion program.

You'll be incentivized by having the liberty the government stole returned to you

I don't see the connection between the two debates.

All I know is that if Canada had a neighbor that constantly committed terrorist acts against our people, that was committed to the destruction of Canada and that refused every opportunity at peace, we might occasionally cross a few moral lines when defending the security of our people too. Criticize Israel when it's warranted but be grateful that you don't have to deal with the problems they have.

Yeah, this has come up before. I saw an interview with Sloan about the anti-lockdown caucus where he seemed pretty clear that he wasn't going to join the PPC. He may change his mind but I wouldn't hold out for it.

There's a lot to criticize Israel for and they should be criticized whenever they do something out of line. There is a big picture to the whole conflict though. Israel has offered Palestine peace including territory for an independent state on multiple occasions. Every time the Palestinians have rejected the offer. Israel is motivated to build a peaceful and prosperous state for it's people. Palestine just wants to destroy it's enemy.

The leader of the far-left party and employees at far-left NGOs have accused anti-lockdown protesters of being far-right because they want to resume normal life

Cabinet positions for each of them!

We might see something from them this time around. They've found a good wedge issue in being anti-lockdown . All other parties unanimously support the current policy but polling suggests that some twenty-odd percent of Canadians think the lockdown measures have been too strict. It won't be enough to form the government but if the PPC can capture that voter block they have a reasonable chance at some seats.

She only had to win the primary to be the party's candidate. The general election may as well have been uncontested because of how solidly democrat her district is. The CPC could pull something like this off but PPC doesn't have this luxury. If it looks like the PPC will pick up even one seat, every PPC candidate will be subject to hard media scrutiny to find something that fits the narrative. Granted that if they can't find anything they'll just make baseless accusations of white nationalism but Max should still be careful about picking soft-targets for criticism.

Still though, when you're in the losing position there's no reason to run a "safe" campaign. For all his faults, Trump was a great model for how to shift from fringe candidate to winner. It's better to put out bold ideas then bland ones even if those ideas have obvious problems. You need to create a message that resonates with the voter base to build interested. You're not going to do that with modest tax reform policies.

Is it finally time to acknowledge that there's nothing we can do?

2
Nietzscheese 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's the funniest part. Ask a leftist where babies come from and they won't be able to give you a coherent answer. Not because they don't know but because they've bastardized language to the point where they can't express simple ideas.

They need to namecall because they don't actually know anything about the subject either. Either you trust the corporations to produce a safe product or you don't. The best "evidence" they can offer is that "it seems to be going okay" and "the government would protect us if it wasn't okay". Taking the vax isn't about science it's about faith in the system.

Remember this the next time a certain someone wants to complain about tiki torches or some garbage like that. The radical left will just make up lies about you and the media will spread them by quoting the lies and refusing to question them.

The game is rigged against you and the sooner you realize you can't play by their rules the sooner you have a chance of actually winning.

Don't expect Max to stand up to socialist healthcare. It's the biggest sacred cow in Canadian politics. No matter how bad it gets the only acceptable answer is "more money". Max may not always be good at picking his battles but I think even he knows to turn a blind eye to that shit-show.

On an additional note the issue isn't just unionization. The "free" model encourages wastefulness by the users. My mother has worked as a doctor for decades and she constantly complains about patients coming in with minor symptoms that only appeared that day like a stuffy nose or a minor headache. All she can do is tell them to go to the pharmacy to buy some over the counter product and come back in two weeks if it's still not better. Throw in all the drug addicts making up stories to try to get a prescription for painkillers and you'd be surprised just the extend of wasted resources in the healthcare system. Almost all the waste could be fixed with a $20 fee per appointment but good luck implementing something like that.

Can they be "reasonable, common sense" limits? Like no saying things that might make someone else feel bad. Especially politicians.

Congratulations you've finally figured out that from now on there'll a be cold, flu and covid season. There's nothing we can do to stop it. We can lockdown to temporarily reduce numbers but it will just spread back out after the measures end. The entire last year was pointless and it was caused by useless politicians and public health officials who just didn't want to be blamed for deaths.

Wait, that's not the conclusion of the article? It's actually saying we need more lockdowns? And I'm supposed to take anything they publish seriously? Well fuck me.
