It's private healthcare so of course you get fast and efficient service. Pay for what you want, when you want.
Same as going to the dentist - if you want an appointment you can book and be there in a few days, or even sooner if it's an emergency.
Our socialized medicine? Book an appointment and get seen sometime next week maybe for your family doctor, then sometime in the next 3 months - 2 years to see a specialist. Isn't it so much better!
My favourite experience was when I sprained my ankle badly and had to get an ultrasound. They made me book 2 seperate appointments to scan first my ankle, and then on my foot about 3cm lower than the ankle. Why? Because OHIP only pays them once for one appointment, so they wanted to get paid twice because technically the foot is a different body part. So I was to come back for another scan when I can barely walk.
My grandparents came from Ukraine and were sent to farm in Saskatchewan. Hard working and wanted to be Canadian. Only spoke English after they moved here.
I know a couple Ukrainian guys that moved here to "study" in college. In reality he just wants to escape the draft and make more than the $400 a month they make there. I don't blame him, who would want to go get blown up by Russian artillery in Crimea.
I had the same thing in December 2019 but I still went to work and functioned fine. I coughed for about a month and got better by February.. before it even officially "arrived" in Canada.
Funny thing is back then the doctor gave me a steroid inhaler.. what is now apparently known as an effective remedy to covid.
